Medicare Clinical Supervisor
EXPERIENCE/TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Education
- A Registered nurse who has completed a baccalaureate degree program approved by the National League for Nursing –or–
- A registered nurse with an accredited degree approved by the National League for Nursing.
- Must have a current license in the State of Missouri.
- Specific and/or Related Work Experience
- Three years of nursing experience with a baccalaureate degree
- Five years of nursing experience without a baccalaureate degree and meets the following requirements:
- at least two of the five years must have been in either; a home health agency; a community health program that included care of the sick; or a generalized family-centered nursing program in a community health agency
- Two of the five years must have been obtained within five years prior to current employment with the home health agency.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The Clinical Supervisor is available at all times during the operating hours of the agency and participates in all activities relevant to the provision of home health services.
- Assures, in conjunction with the Director of Skilled Service that an adequate quantity and quality of staff are available and scheduled according to the needs of the patient.
- Is responsible for the quality of nursing services provided by the agency.
- Supervises all nursing and associate services offered by the Home Health Agency.
- Recommends the selection of all field staff hired, including, RN’s, LPN’s, PT’s, OT’s, HHA’s, ST’s & MSW’s.
- Assists with recruitment of professional personnel.
- Assures compliance with all state, federal, and local laws regarding licensure and certification of staff. Participates and coordinates as necessary during Regulatory Surveys. Participates in development of Plan of Corrections (POC) & implementation of Plan of Corrections.
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
- Assures adherence to agency procedures and policies by all staff.
- Assures that all professional staff maintains professional standards.
- Ensures proper maintenance of medical records as prescribed and in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Ensures with the Director of Skilled Service that all physicians’ orders are current and being followed precisely by nursing personnel.
- Participates in the in-service programs.
- Promotes Home Health referrals in the home care community.
- Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and Home Health Care and shares information with appropriate staff and administrative personnel.
- Assist with the review and evaluation of the home health agency.
- The Clinical Supervisor is available during the hours of operation and assures that staff is assigned appropriately after hours for “On Call Services”.
- Complies with Homecare Agency’s Infection Control Policies.
- Assures that performance evaluations are completed at intervals stated in agency personnel policy.
- Participates in “On Call” rotations when applicable.
- Completes intermittent visits following the RN job description, when applicable.
- Completes field training with new employees & existing employees. Completes field supervisory visits as needed/directed by the Director of Skilled Services.
- Facilitates and maintains record of weekly/bi-weekly interdisciplinary meetings.
- Coordinates clinical care for all active patients under care of Skilled Service.
- Initiates and enforces quality improvement efforts. Maintains documentation of quality improvement (QI) efforts.
- Review OASIS documentation for accurately & logical trends. Intervenes and/or clarifies information as required.
- Implements in-services for staff development and clinical updates.
- Acts as Director of Skilled Service in absence of Director of Skilled Service.
- Complies with Homecare Agency’s HIPAA Policies.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Skilled Services.
